Test results in new firmware (15-nov-2016)
Sat Nov 19, 2016 9:13 am
I have been testing the newest release from
november 15 and these are my results:
It fixed some minor freezing I was having on some
canadian powervu channels.
In practically all the previous versions of the
firmware I had seen overheating when plugging in a
USB device, now it doesn't seem to be as hot as
previously (overheating caused some malfunctions
and I had to install a fan and put the receiver over
something to increase the air flow beneath the
receiver).
There were some issues with video appearing as
slow motion after changing channels, now it has been
reduced, still present but to a lesser degree. More
evident with high bitrate HD channels.
Slow motion video still present but less prominent
in encrypted channels with lower signal potency that
causes the receiver to not open video constantly so
everytime it opens video sometimes appear as slow
motion (specially hard to watch on sporting events).
Autoroll seems to be done quickly, before I had to
perform a trick to force the roll, not anymore.
What could make the next firmware even
better:
Show VPID/APIDs on screen as decimal instead of
HEX (vpid 3110 instead of 0c26 for example) that is
when hitting "info" on the remote.
Show modulation (DVB-S, DVB-S2), type (QPSK,
8PSK, etcetera) and whether is HD or SD in MPEG-2
or h.264 when clicking info on the remote. It could be
done showing an extra info screen when hitting the
INFO button on the remote two times or three times
when there is EPG present (with EPG present two
clicks shows EPG info about the current program).
A way to add a new channel manually directly
without the box needing to scan the transponder to
check if the inserted PIDs are valid (some channels
are hidden and their PIDS are not reported in the
stream).
A better way to show the EPG on screen when
clicking EPG so that it shows the EPG of four or five
channels at the same time on screen.
A better channel editor that allows people to sort
channels by name, by SID, by transponder, etcetera.
