Receiver DISEqC 1.2 issue, Please Help!!

Post by Akacheebe »

Ok so this one has irked the crap out of me every since I first plugged this V7 HD in and started editing the channel/satellite list.

When I’m in the “Satellite Installation” menu and want to move from say, 121W up to 107w I press the “Up” button headed from 121 to 107 and the damn receiver starts moving the dish BEFORE I ever get to 107??? THEN I HAVE TO PRESS THE UP ARROW AGAIN AND WAIT FOR THE DISH TO MOVE ONE SATELLITE AGAIN...........................

PLEASE EITHER PUT AN “OK” COMMAND TO START THE DISH MOVE OR A 3 SECOND MOVE DELAY BETWEEN SATELLITES TO ALLOW ME TO GET TO THE ONE I WANT WITHOUT HAVING TO KEEP PRESSING THE “EXIT” BUTTON TO STOP THE DAMN DISH CONTROLLER FROM MOVING THE DISH BEFORE I SELECT THE SATELLITE I ACTUALLY WANT TO GO TO!!!??? THIS CRAP IS HARD ON DISH CONTROLLER RELAYS AND TRANSFORMER SO IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP!

I got so pissed off I went in every satellite setup menu and DISABLED DISEqC1.2 FUNCTIONS AND NOW I JUST MOVE THE DISH WITH DISH CONTROLLERS REMOTE INSTEAD!!

I own or have owned 5 other brand name receivers and NONE of them have this issue?? Initially I had planned to buy another V7 so I could replace the two older Openbox S9s I have but this issue is a deal breaker for me as I WILL NOT buy another one until this issue is resolved!!

SO CAN SOMEONE PLEASE FIX THIS IN THE NEXT FIRMWARE RELEASE????

Jeez.......................................... [/rant]

Agreed

I have asked for a long time for an option the have a message come up "Move dish to xx --Yes--No--"

The other issue to watch out for is that the over current protection will trip in when your first "uncommitted" DiSEqC switch powers on the second switch and LNB.
The power is cut and the uncommitted switch reverts to port 1.
I solved this by adding a signal splitter (UHF/SAT freq split) at the STB.

The first V7HD from November 2015 did not have this problem but the later ones, and the V8's do.

Agreed Agreed.

It's a fundamental programming issue which should have been fixed ages ago instead the Team continues to roll out new features containing new bugs.

Am considering going to a pc based method instead of stb.

Why not? They've got an endless supply of Beta testers! My V7 hasn't even been connected to a dish in over a week. I'm still using that "old reliable" Openbox S9 that's much easier to use, just larger! ;)

Just dropped in to see if maybe someone had fixed this, but alas, I see that same junk firmware that was there last week?

I don't think they even UNDERSTAND the issue let alone are motivated to fix it.

This is what happens when people design something for a system that they don't understand and have NEVER used before, nor do they use it now! If they'd sit down and try to program satellites in one of these things from scratch, it would be fixed ASAP!

FYI, you can keep on deleting my posts on this topic all you want, but you're not going to stop me unless you delete my account, which is fine with me if you're not going to try to fix the Banned Word that's wrong with with the satellite setup Diseqc 1.2 functions in the firmware!!

I had an Ebay vendor message me yesterday about a "super sale" they were having on the V7 HD that I had asked some questions about a couple of months back. I told them that I wouldn't have another one of these pieces of junk even if they gave it to me!! And as I mentioned in the last post they deleted on this site, I'm not far from using mine for target practice because it's THAT damn useless!

Well, new firmware is out so I brought this "junk" out of retirement yesterday long enough to find out that this "Moving Dish" BS is still there????? :(

Thanks for nothing!! And now it goes back into storage with the other useless crap I have!
