PowerVu in North America

Hello all,

1st post , I read and read ..flashed the latest software to my freesat V7,put in several PowerVu keys manually and tried the soft cam.key method, but I have had no success even getting one power view channel to unencrypt.

Does this work for the PowerVu channels in the USA?

Thanks for any info and reading my post.

Toomanyreceivers you did it !!!

I erased what I had, copy and pasted what you shared to my soft cam.key and it came on!! Man I really appreciate you helping me. I guess I have to learn how to get the right keys and to correctly enter them in the right sequence.

Thank you VERY much!

Yeah,i had probs at first, manually entering keys.
But once u get the hang of it,no biggie.
Main thing is get the right Sat ID Number that goes after key. They are actually ini files for pc sat cards that use # to identify the diff Sats.

Have a look at my instructions here on powervu codes.
The format is the same for the V7 as it is in the V8. You can swap softcam.key files between the two types, v7 and V8.
Note that if you have older software that does not have the new Constant CW, the file does not "Import" the CW and when you "Export" the softcam.key file it over writes the existing one and you could loose you Constant Cw codes on your USB.

Owen thanks for the reply , yep I thoroughly went through your post last week when I was trying to figure it out for myself. I have the key format entered correctly. I used the soft cam.key procedure. Some work some don't , thats why I asked about those specific keys , IF anyone else is having success with them. I have the newest software for the V7HD version (21/02/2017)

One thing I can't understand, is why does this receiver crack some PowerVu channels but not others? It's all powerVu....strange

Thanks again for the reply.

The Pay TV providers are fighting back.
Some Powervu is now Powervu+, like the channels on ABS 6 and MTN.
MTN was changing their code VERY often before they went PV+.
Other channels like A F N only add the flags that Freesat use to Auto Roll the codes once or twice an hour.
CNN off Isat19 @166e will auto roll on the V8 but not the V7.
NHK left powervu and went to a more secure encryption.

Enjoy what you can get while it lasts.

Oh ok,

Its hard for me to relate because Im on the western sats and it looks as you are more parked on the eastern ones.

All the channels my freesat, that I was referring to, can't crack are said to be regular PowerVu , not powerVu + as stated on lyngsat.com

Like the NESN ones from 3900 H 30000 AMC 11 at 131.0°W

Thanks Owen for your info, it is much appreciated

It's not strange.

There are two types of keys; ecm and emm keys. In your second post you can see both kinds.

To get video you must have a working ecm key for that channel. To get a working ecm key someone must give it to you OR you need a valid emm key. The emm key reveals the working ecm keys and so are more valuable as you don't have to rely on someone to give you the ecm keys because the receiver uses the emm key to get them.

The firmware has some emm keys embedded in the firmware, ie you won't see them by dumping the softcam.key to usb. If you are on a channel with a valid emm key the video will come on after a variable amount of time. You would have to ask someone who knows which transponders have keys embedded or you will wait all day and still not get video.

Thanks alot for the info

I'm in East Africa having the same problem. A F N on 906e never opens.
Patched my V7 combo with several updates with no success . Manual and auto keys never
worked

A F N auto rolls the key only once or twice an hour.
It use to do this at 23 minutes past the hour but has changed again.
Some hours I do not get the code and others I do.

I leave the TV on A F N when I leave the room and hope it finds the code.
