Need Help! No signal for Transponders with Symbol Rate below 1500.

Post by peter303 »

Freesat V7 mini and V7 Max unable to receive transponders with Symbol Rate below 1500. I tried it on blindscan and manual scan but I can not receive any signal on NBC TV 3784 V 1464 (Intelsat 19 166.0°E) same with AMA University TV 12612 V 1070 (Koreasat 5 113.0°E)

I hope the Freesat developers will fix this issue. More power!

I just checked and yes I get that signal with my 4.1m dish, Kundu 2 and 3 radio channels. Kundu 2 is scrambled.
My 3m dish does not get this signal.
The CAID is 4afc and is listed as Cable View on Wiki.

It seams your problem is reception.

A bit more of a play with this and I find that Kundu will not open and comes up with "No Signal" if I go to it from another satellite.
I then go to a channel on Intelsat 19C, TLC Taiwan HD, and back to Kundu 2 it signal locks and reports "Encrypted Channel".
I did find I was getting Kundu 2 with my 3m dish after I did this.

So yes there is something going on there.
I suggest going to the TP list and adding the TP info for Kundu 2, and then go to another Vertical TP and pause there and then back to 3784 V 1464 and press the Blue button for a scan.

I have noted that the Freesat units miss blind scanning TP's with high, 45000, or low, less than 1500, SR's.

I tried doing what you suggested Sir @Feralkiwi but still no signal and no program found after scanning.

I also tried other non-Freesat receivers but I was able to get Kundu 2 with a strong signal.

Yes it does look like a software problem with the low SR.
There are other low SR TP's on Eutelsat 172A@172E as well and they are hard to lock onto and the Freesat does not blind scan them.
4174v,,1000 PNGTV and nbc/kundu 2 png on 4196 h,1416.
Both these channels are also on Intelsat 19C.
See the local decussion here at NZDTV.com

Engineers please note: Low SR TP's are not scanning or locking for viewing.

I have seen this today on the 58w TP 3910 SR1500, it DID found the TP on Blind Scan, BUT didn't scaned it for channels, I had to do a normal scan and then 3 channels where found it weren't openend no matter how long I leave them selected and are PowerVu.

after a Blind Scan is better to check the TP list and do an individual scan on those that were skipped.

I hope Freesat engineers would consider changing the blindscan symbol rate range from the current 1500-45000 to 1000-45000. There are lots of transponders that uses symbol rate lower than 1500.

Good to hear this issues will be fixed soon, a workaround I have used for some signals lower than 1500 was to use an editor program for the V7 & V8 models and manually input the frequency in the receiver then scan it in or manually add the entire mux with pids if known.
I had this work several times and even had a symbol rate of 746 play for me.

I hope is to be able to set the SR search range manually.
For example, 1000 to 45000.
Also choose horizontal or vertical polarization scan only.
This is also effective as it saves time.
