Hello everyone.
I've got three Freesat V7 HD units, and no problems so far.
They work well, and the periodic upgrades go smoothly.
However, there is one feature I'm missing all the time:
There could be a new menu option to automatically update the installed cccam lines.
Something simple: just an FTP client, connecting to a configurable FTP server (anonymously or providing user/passwd), and getting a txt
file (at a configurable path) with new lines to be installed.
Once the file is downloaded from the server, the Freesat unit will install the obtained cccam lines automatically.
I guess this would be a very nice improvement ....
Does it sound feasible?
Thanks a lot.
Automatic updates of CCCAM lines

Re: Automatic updates of CCCAM lines
Hi,
Freesat should seriously considered this feature with the next update.
However unfortunately Freesat does not seem to understand the CCCAM protocol.
In EU, it changed from CCCAM to OSCAM with more future.
You can do the function you want with Dream Multimedia's Dream Box.
In fact, there are potential market demand, but unfortunately changed yet.

I don't know about all the DreamBoxes but the DreamBox 900 sucks, The menu sucks, the software sucks, the only way to make changes to the receiver is with the computer and Lan, I have one so I know the Dreambox 900 is a POS.Xsat wrote:Hi,

@Xsat:
Why do you say "Freesat does not seem to understand the CCCAM protocol" ?
I use CCCAM lines without any problem on my Freesat v7 units on a daily basis.
The feature I'm asking for should be quite straighforward to implement:
- New menu option with: ftp server, CCcam.cfg file path (remote, on the server)
- The Freesat v7 implements a basic ftp client, connecting to the remote server, getting the CCcam.cfg file from the server, and
installing that file automatically, so that with just one button pressed, you get your CCCAM lines updated.
- Additional features (nice-to-have) on top of that: a timer that can be set to retry ftp connection to the server periodically. This way, you can have your freesat unit automatically updated, given that your server is also updated periodically, in case CCCAM lines expire.
Regards.

Hi frodo777,
Your way of thinking is very fresh, and I must be erudite.
But future CUP is high-speed.
That's technical innovation of HEVC / 4K.
In particular, that was changed already from Cccam to OSCAM at the EU.
Therefore newly, Freesat does not make expensive software development develop.
This is my opinion.
Thanks,
