Minibud 1.2m
I’m located in quebec city canada. I’ve taken a look at the footprints of various satellites and it seems like the strongest ones for c band in my area are 97, 99 and 107. I’ve tried to receive lesea channels on 99 ( apparently those are the strongest out there) with a c/ku lnb with a scalar ring and the best signal i could get was 37% ( using v7 hd). Outside with my sathero 200 it gave me a 25% signal quality. The channels scanned in (without their names listed) the picture was breaking up heavily. I bought a c band only lnb on wish this week end. Hoping to get better results , otherwise i will have to buy the c1 pll wimax lnb. ($$$) my main goal is to get the fox and cw feeds from puerto rico.
Any other ideas on what satellites are easy to tune in with a 1.2m dish in NA?

Re: Minibud 1.2m
That LNB is of low quality, you must buy one that is 13K are much better and you will have a greater intensity and quality in the signal.
Re: Minibud 1.2m
So the titanium pll lnb would be worth the try ?

Re: Minibud 1.2m
Hi
If you are in Quebec ,KU may work fine on 1.2 m dish but on C band you will need at least a 6 foot dish .
i have a 6 ft spun aluminum and this just barely cuts it ,really an 8 or 10 would be best but 6 ft minimum ,even if you put on the latest and greatest lnb or lnbf you wont get enough signal separation between the satelites with 2 degree spacing on such a small dish .
You may get a few C band channels on a 5 ft but on a 4 ft it wont be good and then in bad weather you will really experience rain and snow fade
Sorry for the bad news but i don't want to see you waste a lot of time and money

Re: Minibud 1.2m
Thx for the reply marantz, plus i’m renting the property so my landlord wouldn’t be happy to see anything bigger than 4ft.
Re: Minibud 1.2m
I tried again with my c/ku combo different sats 123 and 125 couldn't get more then 22% so not enough for a lock. Plus my 90cm on 103w was blocking the way for 99 and 107, if i can move to the country side and install a 10 ft dish that would be awesome
Re: Minibud 1.2m
I found that a Ku / C band LNB needs to point very straight at the center of the dish to work well.etlam34 wrote:I tried again with my c/ku combo different sats 123 and 125 couldn't get more then 22% so not enough for a lock. Dishes; 3x3m, 2.4m and 4.1m, 10+ ku, 2 movers, USARLS. V8 Combo, Pro, V8 Golden, Nova V8Pro2, GTC, Super.V7HDs, Combo and V7s V7Plus Finder, Finder-Meter V8X / UHD V7Pro GT/XCombo. Sats 100.5E to 177W. I'm a Sat hobbyist who helps out.
Re: Minibud 1.2m
Would a c band only lnb be more forgiving?
Re: Minibud 1.2m
They normally are better than Ku / C as signal is not lost into the other half.

Re: Minibud 1.2m
I had much better results with the bsc 421 c band only lnb. Now i’m stationed at 91w g17 i get cw 69%, byu 72% word network 45% jewelry tv 40% fox sports 63% , classic arts 50% and hd 69%.
I also was able to receive 99w lesea 40%, A F N 55%
97w latv 75%, amg 40% the walk 55% spanish channels 55%
125w tbn 40%

I was also able to get anik f1r 43%, i ordered the titanium pll lnb with wifi filter. Hope it’ll be worth it.
Re: Minibud 1.2m
Hi
Please keep us posted on the new LNBF results . a friend of mine uses a bsc 421 c on a 7 ft dish and if your new titanium pll lnb works a lot better i will let him know so he can think about changing his

Re: Minibud 1.2m
Very true I've been there 1.2m combo C/Ku or either C or Ku, foe ME was a waste of time, more than money. tried on 8 feet solid prime focus sameFeralkiwi wrote: I found that a Ku / C band LNB needs to point very straight at the center of the dish to work well.

I am located in Miami, for most considered a privilege area for Satellite, maybe true, plus I am located on the SW Area farm area, So I can catch from 5W Lu to 135 W C band. Most of them 90+ Signal and Quality depending on TP from 45/50 to 85%. I could say that 2.4m (8 feet) and up is the ideal size. I have my friend that leaves a little more up north only 15 miles away and has a 1.8m same LNB titanium, the "loss" of channels is considerable example for giving a number 58W C from 300 he catches only 90 channels. I tried long ago with 1.2m I got some but dont remember.
yes much moreetlam34 wrote: Would a c band only lnb be more forgiving?
That is the only that worked for meetlam34 wrote: So the titanium pll lnb would be worth the try ?
On top of that I an surrounded of 4GLTE antennas and 2 blocks away a military air base, so the regular LNB (cheap ones) the signal locks but fades from 0 to 90. This Titanium brand us always steady
In fact I changed my configuration a year ago with those Titatium with those heat sinks for 2 of those and double output for 2 receivers I do not like the idea of splitters One for Circular polarization 40.5 and 47.5 and the other for Linear. More than happy
On KU there is not much unless you speak Arab, Farsi in 97W Ku or some News feeds that are opened and 30W but I have a single fixed 76cm antenna for that.
So saying that, I am bored. And I gonna strip out the 1,2 for 289 times and add again the cone and the Titanium LNB see what I can get compared with 24

CW Puerto Rico ? where I can get some CW but I dont think they are from the Island
Re: Minibud 1.2m
Cw on 91w galaxy 17.
Pretty strong signal , can’t lock during the day , i have to wait for dusk to arrive.
Also cw puerto rico is on 99w. Couldn’t lock that one, i was barely receiving the lesea mux.
97w had latv at 70% that was the strongest i got so far with the bsc 421 lnb.

Gonna check that out... hadn’t seen CW PR.
I am gonna try something different tomorrow and if it works will share.
Try to play with Focal distance and skew maybe a 1 millimeter makes a difference rembember your configuration makes the signal very sharp and difficult to lock on, not impossible though

yes I got them all except one is codedetlam34 wrote:Cw on 91w galaxy 17.

Super signal perfect HD
Nada zip niente nothingetlam34 wrote: Also cw puerto rico is on 99w. Couldn’t lock that one, i was barely receiving the lesea mux.
I have the TP and strong signal where should be WAPA, but no "guapa" just the carrier signal and no channel
cant find tp for CW PR
PS: I need to adjust LNB, either way all tp over 90% Signal 80% Quality
Re: Minibud 1.2m
Hi, I live in central Mexico and I can recive 99w tp 3826 h with an offset dish 2.4m and a Chaparral LNBFn the signal is ok but I have seen in Lyngsat charts that this transporder is 3827 entered this frecuency and couId not lock the transporder, if your receiver has blind scan why don't you try it
Re: Minibud 1.2m
by the way, I hope to buy a Titanium LNBF soon
Re: Minibud 1.2m
If you are referring to me. Blind always.pamar wrote:Hi, I live in central Mexico and I can recive 99w tp 3826 h with an offset dish 2.4m and a Chaparral LNBFn the signal is ok but I have seen in Lyngsat charts that this transporder is 3827 entered this frecuency and couId not lock the transporder, if your receiver has blind scan why don't you try it
As per 3826 vs 3827 there is no much difference due the oscilator of this boxes are not professional grade. And I do have the 4 channels as 3826 H 6647
If I modify the frequency and SR to those on lyngsat does not affect the image.
However look and my signal versus quality. I need to adjust that LNB Also it not may be locking perfectly that is coming down at CH1...CH2 etc. Take a look
By the way this channel is announces as NBC US Virgin Islands
Note. Date sent by satellite is wrong is July 1st 4:30am
Re: Minibud 1.2m
And yes I get the WPRU in SD. Still idk which is CW PR
Re: Minibud 1.2m
Hi
I see some are mentioning the Titanium LNBFs ,any comments on the wideband versus the one with the TI/Wi max filter?
i guess the one cuts off below 3.7 gigs ,is there much below 3.7 in North America that warrants this coverage down to 3.4 gigs ,i checked lingsat and it doesn't show much below 3.7 except birds 70 w and lower .
Any comments please ........before i think about advising a friend to update his old LNBF ?

Re: Minibud 1.2m
That TP and SR is what's known as the Puerto Rico Mux and there's 4 channels on that TP. I watch it almost daily!! WVGN is the NBC affiliate on that mux. There's also This TV, Laff Tv and Bounce TV on there.Marsat wrote:If you are referring to me. Re: Minibud 1.2m
I dismanteled today the 1,2 offset put a Titanium LBB with sink heat C1 as pictured above, of course with cone
went to 99W I get only 9 channels
went to 113W only 8 over almost 100 (dont know really how many on my 2,4m prime focus)
Anyway that was done fast this morning until damm heat and humidity kicked off, now I am sun burned. I can find neither my WS-6908 nor my Spectrum Analyzer to tune better. Only done with "FeeSat" V8 finder, soon to be donated to charity

1) The Ku/C band combo same brand did not work. And, I do not recommend it. Period Better to put 2 LNB one next to the other
2) Regular LNB for C it did work, but was unstable image goes from 95% Signal strength to 0 and comes back.
3) Added the C1 PLL Titanium and still using it for a year 2 of those one for Circular and the other linear, each one the model with 2 outputs
Why. The only explanation it could be is the 2 radars I have at the military base and 5 antennas of 4G LTE Cellular 1 block away. I blame to those
So yes it did work. My best friend also in Miami has the same same C! PLL and never an issue nd he has only a 1,8 meter
Re: Minibud 1.2m
I’ve put my 1.2m geosatpro on a aluminum pole, works much better then my wood pole i was using before. I was able to get 69% quality on cw but only 37-38% on 3820 the sd fox mux . When i adjust the signal on 3820 i lose cw.
