Question my freesat v7 hd is being damaged ?

Post by maxblue »

I have a freesat v7 hd.
My problem is that the box has problems changing the satellite.
I have 58w, 40w, 30w and 97w
with four antennas.
All the satellites look good if I put them directly to the box.
if I put them with a switch, it only lets me see the 40w that is circular.
The switch and cables are fine.
I have more than one switch.
one 4 x 1 and another 8 x 1 /
with the two switches it does the same ..

Will the box be damaged?
Or it is something else.

¿Se dañará la caja?
O es algo más.

Buena pregunta.

I have had this problem with many of Freesat's units.

The issue is the LNB power over current protection.
With a 8x1 DiSEqC 1.1 and a 4x1 DiSEqC 1.0 switch, I find that when the second switch and LNB power on the over current trips in and cuts the power for a moment.
This resets the 8x1 switch (the uncommitted switch) to port 1.

To stop this I have a signal splitter in the LNB cable at the set top box.
This provides some impedance to the circuit and stops this.
You can use a tone sat find too.

There are some of my comments and finding here.

It may or maybe not.
I did had the same issue. It came out it was the switch, twice

My configuration is atypical and it's been a year so far so good.

2 V8 Super (family room and master bedroom)

1 - 8' with 3 LNB 2 outputs each (C linear, C circular and Ku) from 40.5 to 135W
1 76cm Dish Circular Ku fixed for 77W 2 outputs
1 76 cm Universal Ku for 30W 2 outputs
1 OTA for local channels 2 outputs

Each output goes to two different multiswitch that I brought from Europe brand Centauri
So I am using on each multiswitch 5 ports Pus the OT still 3 left

Never had an issue, however with those 4 x 1 man..... pain in the @ss, exactly what you are experiencing

---------

So summury

Do this to find out if it is the switch or something else

1) check the signal on all 4 dishes and that you can watch.
2) connect the multiswitch ANY BUT just ONE dish at port 1
3) The move it at port 2 and so on. That you will see if all ports are working. remember to change the settings on the V7 to each port
If one port (at least is not working) get another switch. If it works got to next step

4) Now leave that dish on port 1 and add the second dish on port 4. see what happens.
5) Switch dishes and see which one fails.

Hope it helps

Thanks for your comments.
Very interesting all
the configuration is fine.
I put the satellites from largest to smallest.
30w in port 1, 40w in port 2, 58w in port 3.
not to be wrong
interesting that of using spliter.

For the moment, I'm going to try using a jynxbox 30 to get rid of doubts.
Then I follow your advice.
All very good.
Thank you.

gracias.

I do not know what happened, but the box was fixed.
Check all the cables and I put it
adhesive tape on the connectors.
I improve the change of satellites a lot.
Still sometimes it flashes when changing satellites. Especially when I change to a 40w channel that is circular.
But I can live with that delay of a few seconds.

Maybe some cable picked up moisture.
It is what I imagine.

Quizas algun cable cogio humedad.
Es lo que me imagino.
