Freesat 7 Combo with Motorised Dish

Post by Pacx »

Hi guys. Im new to all this. I have an old Topfield receiver with a motorised dish. Usually I get a technician to do the set up but this time Im trying to do it myself and Im very green.
1. With my Topfield it would be able to move the dish to locate the satellite. Can Freesat 7 Combo do the same?
from my Topfield I transferred the yellow, white & red cables and also LNB. but there are the other cables that seem to be to move the dish which i can figure out where to plug to the freesat unit as it is an open wire without socket.

Any ideas?

I do not know that brand trying to google it but here are several models where you do not indicate us the model nor the motor brand and model

No The Freesat model and most of other brands they do not "move" the motor through wires

A) If you have an actuator for example you must have a "dish mover"
dish mover example

Code: Select all

http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/Moteck/V-Box-II-control.htm
Actuator example

Code: Select all

http://www.powerjackmotion.com/product/satellite-dish-actuator-regular-type/
B) If you have a motor like the one in the link (not promoting)

Code: Select all

https://www.amazon.com/DiSEqC-Satellite-motor-rotor-USALS/dp/B071DBYP2B

Case A
The dish mover connects to the LNB and 4 wires 2 gives 36V to the actuator (motor) and 2 wires for the sensor
And from the dish mover OUT LNB to Freesat V7 LNB IN or SAT IN

The you start savings on the settings for each sat the positions which they transfer to the dish positioner/mover for later use

Case B
The LNB connects to the motor outside and on the other connector goes inside straight to the receiver
This is pretty easy

So you can set this motor (is similar to the one shown) in 2 modes
USALS, is already preset you set it up and all sat positions are already recorded and work along with your longitude and Latitude that you must imput
Diseqc 1.2 is the other mode where you have to save each position sat by sat. On this mode you can move the motor with your remote and fine tune it EAST to WEST and vice versa. It saves I think up to 64 positions
On both modes your Freesat receiver "feeds" with power both the LNB and motor so you do not need extra wires or anything else all goes by the coax cable

I have them both

But like I said I do not know your configuration, brand or models

Here to help

That receiver is built in positioner, it means that topfield send 36V to the motor

The CASE B that i sent to you works with 13/18 V using the power from th receiver

Unfortunately I am not familiar with that motor Yuri a link, a picture of label would be a plus

so following your case B. I would have to use my Topfield to position the dish, then Freesat 7 to scan the channels.

Is there a setup where switching channels from one satellite to another while watching with Freesat 7 possible.

To move the positioner when you change channel on the new Freesat you would need a mover box, like a "Vbox", to replace your old receiver.
Best for now to use your old box to move the dish, while using the Freesat to watch the TV.

Yes you need a dish mover of 36V
Owen is correct use the old receiver as mover and I will post bellow some examples

Code: Select all

https://www.ebay.com/i/232897473974?chn=ps
I have one similar to this cheap in price and contruction
Exactly same commercialized with different brands possible clone of some brand Is unknown to me
another brand is V-Box II

or do a google search as "satellite dish positioners "your country" or just "satellite dish positioners"

Good luck

how do i set the satellite setting in freesat v7 combo with the mover box so that it automatically position the dish when changing channels.
With the freesat unit attached to the mover box is it possible to do a new satellite search?
i notice there is a motor option i think with on, DiSeqc & Usals.

If you get a DiSEqC mover (Positioner) like the Vbox, you use DiSEqC motor setting.
Once set in Antenna setting you click on the word DiSEqC and this takes you to the motor setting page.
There you can set the position numbers, limits etc.

Note that some Mover boxes save the position number at the same time as you set it in the Freesat unit, so check that you have your dish on that sat / position at that time, or set the positions in the Freesat unit with the Vbox turned off.

USARL is used mostly for small ku dishes with the motor unit running power off the LNB cable.

NO wordpad will add hidden unwanted characters to the file and will fail use NOTEPAD

As per the mover, NO you need to connect the LNB straight to the Freesat and the Topfield use only to power the motor

Well I do not know who hold a softcam collection of Keys for europe and Asia and even if there is one. I know Jim has it for North america and can be requested here.

Code: Select all

http://www.freesat.cn/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=9349
You havent told where in the planet you are.

Otherwise you can start collecting keys from the Transponders you like to watch. Most of them PU are already embedded in the firmware so you may not needed them. Should you need need you may ask on the forum if they can share them with you, then copy and paste on the softcam.key file

What is more should you not have a response from anyone. Or you get an answer that those keys are not available you may want to do "community service" You may want to record that channel you can not open in segments of 5 minutes do not know how many times but the more the merrier.
in TS format. I do not know who handles this but then you send those files for the "blender" and comes out your keys. Just contact the forum moderators they know. I have the software but not the time :( :( :(

Im in Malaysia. didn't know the codes work differently on location. thought as long its the same satellite it will work  its been four days into having this receiver. still don't know what it can do. could it record the channel? :) facing a problem where my topfield can only detect AsiaSat7 and Palapa D... before i could catch thaicom and also intelsat. been scanning with all the TPs but still nada.. not sure is it because the Topfield firmware is outdated 2005 or something else.

hi Crunk2 thanks for the link will work on it... lots to learn and absorb

from 105.5E i was going to 98.0E. Tried typing in the TP but the receiver is telling me out of range. Is it because my dish cant point to that direction?

If you have your LNB set for C band and then try to enter a Ku band TP it will report out of range.

Use "Chip Set" as a search on this web site and you will find what chip sets Freesat wifi works with.

What my friend Owen meant is:
Not all the USB WiFi adaptor works on Freesat Units: it has to be RT5370 or Ralink RT5370

Secondly your unit should work with youtube. I do not remember if the icon is there or it shows when inernet is connected or is gray out. That I do not remember But It should work

Thirly, no you can not have a browser in this model. The only one is the GTC

An last as bonus you can get kinky with youporn         entering the correct 4 digit passcode

Will cost you a beer
