Hard Drive connected to Freesat V8 does not get recognized

I bought a hard drive to record from the freesat V8 Nova blue unit and the hard drive has its own power supply, however no hard drives seem to get recognized by the V8 or a V7 that I have, only flash drives. I even created a 64GB partition on it and still nothing. Any way to fix this?
