Golden vs Super
Can anyone please explain to me the pros & cons of V8 Golden and V8 Super ?
What are the differences, apart from the 3 tuners vs single tuner?
Greetings.

Re: Golden vs Super
Golden has 1 Additional OTA tuner (T2) for Europe. Other than that they are the same

Thank you for the reply.
Does the V8 Golden have H.265 for T2 ?

Re: Golden vs Super
None of the Freesat models does H.265.

That's a bit odd !cpr43 wrote:None of the Freesat models does H.265.
As fas as I know, T2 will only work in Germany if it does have H.265.
For example, VU+ Duo2 receiver has H.264, so an additional T2 tuner would not work with that receiver.

Re: Golden vs Super
Well, I can confirm you guys that V8 Golden's T2 will not work in Germany
as the receiver doesn't have the UHD compatible H.265 in it.
However the T2 will work normally in Austria, France, Spain ... while not in Germany, UK and Scandinavia.

New Zealand is still changing channels from SD to HD on Terrestrial, in H.264 576i to 1080i.
On NZ satellite they still use MPeg2 576i for the FTA channels.
UHD would be nice but it will take years to get here and by then FTA and satellite TV will have gone fully internet.

You can watch cricket so easily on your Sky NZ, etc and here it is basically impossible on TV, unless ... !
Re: Golden vs Super
Yes you can watch if you PAY. Fees are high and the only content worth watching is the cricket or Rugby.genius5000 wrote:Lucky New Zealand !

SkyNZ are loosing customers by the thousands and many pubs no longer pay the $NZ800 per month needed to have the rugby on for their few customers.
I look at payTV as a failed model and expect it to be gone at the end life time of the current satellites.

Re: Golden vs Super
looks like you sure have dishes all around your house and the roof
I really would like to see some pictures, if it's ok. That'd be very interesting!
Owen, are you from the Freesat Team as well ?

Have a look at my big dish day!
There are other pics of my dishes on the last page of the set up instructions here.
I do not work for Freesat, I am a set top box user like you.
I brought my first satellite STB when New Zealand went digital and my "hobby" has got big!

goodstuff mate
where did you those 2 big ones ...
i see, your mesh dish is probably from China as they are the only mesh satellite manufacturer in the world at the moment ?
And, what about the solid one?

Re: Golden vs Super
I buy my dishes off www.trademe.co.nz our local online auction website.
I pay about $30-50 for each mesh dish now days and I got the big dish from 400km away for $200.
Most people are now using the net for TV and local councils want consents for dishes over 2.4m if your neighbor complains.
