Freesat V8 Super Help

Post by sonaissi »

Hello,

Please excuse my ignorance in this topic as I am new to the FTA/Sat world.

A few months ago I bought a Freesat V8 Super.
My Sat guy used a NewCam account to get some Intelsat 21 58.0W channels (Sky Mexico)

Recently some of these channels went dark. Doing some research, I saw that Sky had changed their encryption in Europe in May, however I was not affected in May. So I am not sure if Sky Mexico did the same. Does anyone know what happened with Sky Mexico? I want my Premier League matches back!

Reading more on the topic, I noticed that some users have more channels than I do, so I looked further and I saw that it could be due to the encryption.

What type of channels a NewCam account open?

How can I get keys for the other encryption type channels? how can I upload them to my V8?

Any help, advice or recommendations are appreciated!

what encryption are you talking about, if it's powervu encryption then you don't need any newcamd, all you need is the powervu keys.

Thanks for your reply.

I have some that are Powervu that do not open. Where can I find the keys for those?
The others' encryption is MPEG-4 Digicipher, I am guessing these are showing through the newcamd, right?

3rd question: How do I unlock channels with DVB-S2 Videoguard encryption?

OK, here's something that is confusing me.
My FreeSat V8 Super allows to configure the LNB freq before a Scan

I set it to Universal (9750-10750) and I got 355 channels of these TPs:
11870/H/30000
11910
11950
11990
12030
12070
12110
12150
12190
12230
12270
12310
11890/V/30000
11930/V/30001
11970
12010/V/30000
12050/V/30001
12130/V/30000
12170
12210
12250
12290
12330

Changing the LNB frequency gives lesser channels, 66 or 101. These channels are among the 355 I first got, but in different/lower frequencies

Looking at https://www.lyngsat.com/Intelsat-21.html I am not getting a lot of the channels on there. Like, Caracol for example...etc

Can anyone please explain to me what is going on? what should I do to get those other channels?
Is the TP freq same as LNB freq?

Thanks again,

Hi

Please have a look at these instructions on setting up your V7 or V8

You may have a "Universal" LNB. These have two halves. and the second half is accessed by turning "ON" the 22kHz.
By selecting Universal (9750-10750) you accessed both halves of your LNB. the 9750-10750 automatically turns the tone on to use the 10750 half.
To use only the 10750 half select 10750 and 22kHz "ON".
to use the 9750 half just select that frequency and 22kHz "OFF".
When you changed to another setting you most likely accessed only half the LNB.

The most common Uni LNB is 9750 / 10600.

Like you said the frequencies you got do not match Lyngsat.
Try different LNB setting until you get the frequencies within 2 to 3 MHz, ie 11909 to 11913 for 11911.
This little amount off does not matter.
You can look at your LNB, with out falling off the roof, to see what low frequency it is.

Good luck

Hello @Feralkiwi,

Thanks for the reply.

When I got to do a scan, I set the frequency to Universal 9750-10750 and the 22K is automatically set to "Auto"

I do the scan and get 355 channels of the frequencies I mentioned in my prev. post.

I tried your suggested config. Tried 9750 which allows to turn off 22K, and I g ot 101 channels which are already among the 355 in my first search. the new 101 channels have different frequencies but at the same channels.

Could it be that the LNB is restricted to certain frequencies?

Any other ideas?

No it does look like you have a Uinversal LNB and should use setting 9750 / 10600 so that you use both halves of the LNB.
That is if you are using a Ku band dish, a small solid dish.

If you are using a large mesh dish (2.4m diameter or bigger) then you need to use the C band setting 5150/5750 or 5750/5150 as suits your LNB.
That setting is use with split band C Band LNB's that have a low band and high band.
C band frequencies on Lyngsat for I'sat 21 are 3720 V 30000, 3720 H 27000, 3760 V 27690, 3760 H 3000 etc

If the transponder frequency has 4 digits, it's C-band and you're not going to get it with a Ku-band dish and LNB...
