hidden programs

hello everyone

I would like to know if Satellite providers are hiding Programs by somehow altering the Apid's and Vpid's so even a blind scan cannot find them?
Some old online posts suggest this was a common practice at one time and manual editing of the pids would allow Receivers to lock onto these hidden channels.

Can this possibly be true. any thoughts?

I have done a test with an existing known PID. I used the search by PID function within TP searches with no luck. The search ends with No Programs Found. Can you explain how to use the PID search option? I used 77west 12428 H 20000 PID 6690 6691 200. This is a preview channel .It will scan no problem with blind search. I used those numbers found from the blind search to try to figure out how the PID search works. All very confusing

I hope a user in your area will hekp.

All I can comment is if there is no signal lock, then you will not scan anything.
You may need to improve the alignment of your dish to get lock.
There are TP's with high fec rates that cause issues of lock.
I had one that I just got and they changed fec and I only just see that it is still there now.

The information given when you get the channel info is VPID/APID/SID(ServiceID). When you do a PID Scan it asks for VPID/APID/PCRPID. The PCR PID is the same as the VPID, so if you do a PID Scan with 6690/6691/6690 you will get CH200. If you use 6690/6691/200 you will get "No Program found".

One other detail, I have a V8x and I have to use 12428 V 20000, that may be a difference in LNB's.

Getting right to the point. Is there anything on the North American satellites where one can find hidden channels on Ku band? possibly not?
