v8 super

Post by owhite47 »

After I upgraded my v8 super this time, the v8 will not move the dish using usals, just get a error,(out of range), I input the correct cordinates and save and disable my limits....still no go...........when I revert to my old bin file it works flawlessly......what has happened with the newest bin? :?:

You need to re enter your location.
Go to the dish motor setting and you should see color button allocations at the bottom of the screen.
One is for your location.
Check you have east west n s set for your location.

When you say "when I revert to my old bin file it works flawlessly" do you mean the software or your user data?
It maybe that the location data has got corrupted.
Change it to something else and then back to the correct data for your location.
The "out of range" error is always because the sat you are going to is below your horizon as the software calculates.
If you are west and your set your sats to east this will happen.

Feel free to send me a copy of your user data and I can look at it for you.
I will PM you my email address.

Have you checked that your sats are correctly east or west?
Maybe try your correct location (Lat Long) and swap the E / W for each sat.
So if you are 120w for your location any sat that is listed from 40w to 180w is in range.
If you have a sat listed for 33w it is out of range. Any sat listed for east is out of range (maybe 166e just)
If you swap your location w to e, do as a 180 - your lat.

I'm still happy to look at your user data file if you email it to me.

Hi, if as you think it's the latest bin you should load the older firmware and wait until the next update.
Sorry but I don't see a 419 bin in the v8 Super download section.

I loaded the latest software into my Golden yesterday.
I will do some tests with that to see if I have the same fault with USALS.

I would still like to check your user data file if you could email it to me.

I tested my latest software on my Golden and no problem with USALS.

To upload your 419, place it in a .zip folder and then go to "Attachments" at the bottom of the entry window for posts and click "Add files" then "Place inline" after it has loaded.

Load your user data there too and I will have a look for you.

Hi

I loaded your user data into my V8 Golden and I noted that it did not load your location, it still had my location.
If you have done a software upgrade by the "Main code" or is it "all code" this will clear your settings and your location.

Go to the antenna setup menu and then move down to where you have USALS selected as the motor type.
When you are over USALS you will see the option for the green button to set your location.
I think that you have done this correctly, but check that the location is correct for north and west.
When I entered a location of 120w and 40n with your user data file loaded I could move all your sats.

If all of this does not fix the report "Out of range" for your USALS sats then upgrade to one of the software versions on the forum download section.
This 419 version supplied in your unit from the factory may be a faulty version that was not released on this site.
I can not test 419 as I do not have a super here.

You said you could get the dish to move by putting incorrect lat a long in.
Did you try a reversed lat long, ie 180-long (east instead of west) and your current lat.
With a bit of trial and error while looking where the dish has moved to you may figure it out.
I will have a play with this later myself by changing my sats to west (from their correct east) and doing the same 180-long.

How did you get 120 north in anyway? You must be east coast USA.

Good you found the problem.

It took me a while to figure it out..........-86.5= +73.5 +32.6=212--36.6 got me that is how it worked out, something in the software or version of hardware in my v8super I suppect

Looks all wrong but it works flawlessly you have to enter it in then reverse

So you are saying you entered the long into the lat and lat to the long and it worked?
Or did you as it looks from your last post entering fiddled values in to make it work.
This math line has me confused. "-86.5= +73.5 +32.6=212--36.6"

In my "Normal" software the longitude is at the top and the latitude is the second line of the location entering screen.
Defaults are East and North.
Is that how you location screen looks.

You can manually enter the TP's that your scan missed and scan them by auto scan.
You will find lists on sites like Lyngsat.
