Check that your power supply for the V8 is working, try another one (12 volt 1.5A) if you have one.

If you hold a AM radio close to the V8 Unit with the power on, you should hear a noise on the radio from the computer CPU running.

If the unit is running you can try a flash.bin recovery.

A flash.bin recovery is done like this..

Place a copy of the unpacked software (the .bin file) on a USB stick and rename it "flash.bin"
With the USB in the unit, power on while repeat pressing "Menu" on the remote. You must use the V7 remote on the V7.
The unit should reload the software.

When you plug in a USB stick, does the light on the stick light?

Checked the power suply and it seems to work the issue is somewhere on the motherboard.
And like i said before the unit wont turn on at all no lights no display nothing so flashing another firmware is not possible.

Sounds like the power is not reaching the V8 unit.

What was the nature of your power outage?
Was it a fault in your house, or local lightning?

You could still try the flash.bin. If the unit is running it may reload.

turns out its a fault in my house.. a resident connected an electronic device with 2 pins from the HOT wire into the GROUND wire
ON a 220v outlet and the device that he connected works just fine, also the device tripped the circuit breaker.
I tried to reflash the firmware by following your procedure but got no resuslts.

As the fault was in your house the fault current has likely passed through your V8 unit to ground via the LNB cable and the dish outside.

You are unlikely to get a refund if you return it now, so open the box and look at the board inside.
I expect you will see a lot of burnt stuff.

It is very likely that dead is dead after such an electrical fault.
You could post a picture here if you want.

I will check back in an hour or two.

I dont know if the related or not but the dish is not connected to the ground.'

I assume you have checked that there is power coming from the wall socket you have the V8 plugged into?

Do you have another 12 volt power adapter that you can test with?
Can you test the output of the 12v power adapter with a multi meter?

Do you have a cigarette to 12v plug adapter you can test with in your car?
Like this?

There are voltage test points on the circuit board.

Have you checked those?

Another user once said that a diode at the power input burnt out on their V7HD unit.
Carefully check around the 12v entry.
Good luck.
