Hello to forum members worldwide from Warpspeed, new to the forum from Los Angeles. Just connected a new GTX Combo and noted a few issues, but first, a big thank you to the forum members for sharing their insights, to GT Media forum organizers and leaders for responding and taking action, and to the talented designers and developers (hardware, software and firmware) for wanting to produce and maintain a best-in-class combo DVB-S2+FTA box for a worldwide market; not an easy task. Now the issues:

1) We need a separate area for GTX Combo in the GT Media forum. Will help if all manuals, firmware updates, videos, and comments on this particular model stay together and are not highjacked by other models. Each product deserves its space.

2) Can we please add US FTA antenna ATSC frequencies for autoscan? Much more useful than cable channels here, as cable companies often insist on their own box. FTA here in LA means 175 channels, several very high quality like PBS. Would greatly appreciate developer attention or code so we can do it.

3) The internal bay did not cope with a high-quality 2TB SSD. This needs to be corrected. I settled for an old mechanical HDD and would rather not return the box for an avoidable hardware issue like this. Appreciated forum comments on this.

4) On either of the two launchers and with the 1.2 update (without a bug fix report), I still cannot get audio on Bluetooth. Is this everyone's current experience? Again, can we avoid having to return the box and get reassurance this is being fixed.

5) As has been noted in the forum, DVB, the most important app, does not work! "Common Settings", "EPG", "Channel Manager", and "Installation" options all default to the live channel after a couple of cycles as the cache gets filled. Needs fixing.

6) Serial blind scan from 61.5W to 129 in my southern sky view went swimmingly but have not tried C-Band, circular or 4:2:2 chroma.

Anyways I hope this helps. Would appreciate the developers addressing these issues, and they are welcome to share code if they need help.

Hi.
Thanks for noting the SSD issue.
I too found this.
My thinking is there is not enough power for the 2tb SSD.

Did your unit shut off the USB ports after the SSD tried to run?

Tested today a SkyNZ iderto pay TV card. Works well.

Could well be a power supply issue, Owen. Maybe the daughterboard was underspec’d. After reading your note, I looked at the two USB ports’ power while inserting an ssd and an hdd; neither caused a voltage drop at the ports. Of course I did not do that first time an ssd was inserted so no way of telling if something changed since. Still, the fact that the hdd works suggests no damage to the 5V I guess.

Re my note on Bluetooth, I tried again and it worked, although it took a few tries. Maybe something to do with the digital sound settings under Droid Settings>Audio Output>Digital Audio Format.

If the ssd is currently the weak link on the hardware side, the DVB app is the weak link on the software side.

One thing I was nevertheless impressed with is the Multiscan. It did a great job 129W through 61.5W all on its own after proper Antenna Setup.

I hope one of the developers can clarify. There is no shame in admitting an issue and explaining the options to correct it. 😊

PS I did not want to open the box as I may return it unless I hear the developers are on the job sorting basic things such as the DVB app out. I purchased on GT Media Mars Store and the agent there is very helpful but the technical problems have to be addressed by the technical development team.

Re Blue Tooth, only one thing can be paired at once.
If the remote is paired, then other things can not.

Unpaired the remote works as a normal IR remote.

There is a USB port on the circuit board, marked like any other USB for a mother board connector.
I tested and that USB port has 3.7v, not the standard 5.
It may be a pair of the USB 3.0 port, or the pair of the WiFi or SSD.

Brilliant! Thank you, Owen. I unpaired the remote and tried pairing a Sony WH-1000XM2 on Bluetooth and it worked first time. What's more, to your point, the remote still works on IR, so this problem is solved thanks to you.

I am left with the SDD mystery, which is probably power supply dependent as you suspect and the more frustrating DVB app, which is touch and go. Considering this app is key, I am hoping there will be an authoritative upgrade. For teh US market, the only other missing feature is the ATSC FTA options for high UHF.

Thank you for getting us to teh bottom of the Bluetooth issue.

Another user said that the play back works better off a USB drive rather than the SSD slot, much better speed through USB.

Saw that from Ig-Man, very helpful observations on SATA v USB, thank you 🙏🏻.

Time Shift/Pause/Play: I put both Time Shift and Record on the external USB, although Time Shift does not engage reliably every time and causes some interference with sound occasionally.

Launcher 1 and 2: I realize bugs may be different under each of the two launchers. I switched to the original and am going to stick with this for a while and see what works and what doesn't.

Launcher 1: Bluetooth still plays up and is unreliable. With Launcher 1, I disabled DTS and it seems to have improved but not reliable.

Launcher 2: The DVB app kept terminating every few minutes. I think something to do with a setting on IP audio calling a server that was not specified.

Picture and sound: On the positive side, the picture quality is excellent and sound seems good too.

Adding Favorite Channels: One question I have is re adding favorite channels. I yet have to figure this out. There is a function for favorite apps but that is not as useful for me as favorite channels. Frankly, most of these apps are useless for me as in the US we watch Netflix, Prime, Disney etc on an Apple TV or an Amazon Fire Stick or a powerful Nvidia Shield device.

Sat Box focus: GT Media needs to get the basic satellite functions of the DVB app and SatToIP to be solid, and maybe also add the right frequencies and demodulation code to the ensure the ATSC works for FTA broadcasts here. Everything else is icing on the cake.

For favorites.

In DVB app.
Menu / channel edit / select the channels and press Fav then select the favorite list name.
List name can be changed in the normal channel list.

I would be happy if 4:2:2 worked.

Oh great! Got it and done! Thank you, Owen!

Re 4:2:2 I had done it with an Azbox many years ago. Not sure what West satellite transponders to check for this. I am getting all the NBC Feeds on 103W, Reuters on 129W, and CNN on 87.1. All show correctly but not sure if any is in 4:2:2. Probably not.

None of those feeds are 4:2:2. Try the ABC Feeds on G-16, or better yet, the CBS Feeds on G-19. They all stutter. Stop motion 4:2:2.

Just build a box that can run 4:2:2. I don't mind paying $200-400. FTA equipment used to be soo expensive. Old DVB-S receivers were over $500 and wouldn't even move the dish. Enough of these cheap android work arounds

Hi

You have a new GTX Combo or is the GTX Combo new compared to your GT Combo?

Yes the list works from the GT to the GTX.

Hi

Looking at this GTX Combo unit.

The "SATA-HDD"
What type of SSD would that take?

I see three types red green and blue?

I had and asked the same thing!
The end result for me was to buy the green one and then it would not work.
A hard drive did work OK.
Other users have had SSD not work as well.
Lining said to slow format the SSD, but my PC stops formatting a half way, 1Tb of the 2Tb drive.
The issue may be the 2Tb size and the operating system.

CAJE and Lining posted this here about the color types of SSD.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I have the GT Combo and not the new GTX. I was interested in the GTX until I see that it too does not do the 4:2:2 as advertised. The behavior I described is with the Combo box which from what I 8understand has roughly the same hardware. Stone

Lining recommended the slow long format for the SSD.
I still have not got mine to work, 2TB.
I think the power to the SSD board is not up to the 1A required by the 2Tb SSD.
My Hard drive works and only needs 0.5A

Good luck.

Hard Drive Setup:

Please someone tell me what am I doing wrong, I have a SanDisk 1TB SSD hard drive, I have tried to format using both NTFS and FAT on my computer,
once I plug in the disk and hit the red button it says "No Storage found" I go to menu on the GTX box selection storage it see's the SanDisk 1TD
drive I click on format from the menu I format it once I go to the menu under more, "it say unsupported format" I reboot and format it again from
the menu of the GTX box using the other options reboot the machine, click on the red button it says No storage found. I go back on the menu in
the GTX box click under more and then storage it says the say thing. "SanDisk unsupported format".

1. Which format to use before plugin it in the GTX box NTFS or FAT?
2. Which option to use on the GTX box under storage so the drive will on work for this box, or format to be a removable disk?
3. Is anyone using a SanDisk SSD on this box and got it to work?
