EAC3/Dolby+ Out of order: Estimated correction ?

Post by jakf »

EAC3 audio also called Dolby+ does not work (it's not AC3).
Does Freesat finally wants to recognize this serious problem and fix it?

Thank you for communicating on the subject and tell us a correction date.
Otherwise i propose create a petition and inform social networks, it makes a lot of emails and too long that the isue is ignored...
In France the box is without audio, must I definitively put it in the trash?
Thx for an official Freesat answer

I tested whether the TV EAC3 is working properly.
At present, there is a problem with the monitor EAC3 playing.
It is recommended that you use another TV to watch it.

Thanks for your message jakf.

I join your petition, here in Spain we don’t have audio in most of the HD channels in DVB-T (TDT), also.

I think we should extend the petition and include to solve the gap sync between audio/video in HD channels DVB-S.

I don’t understand how FREESAT can sell this receiver when it has these serious bugs.

We, as customers, pay for a finished product and this receiver is in Beta state. They released it to the market and wait for us to report the bugs. This is a task for the FREESAT Development Team and not for your customers!!!

And the most incredible thing is the “silence” of the company when we report these bugs. They’re even bold to deny they have a problem with EAC3!!!

Sorry FREESAT, but you must deliver a valid answer for all of these bugs and reevaluate the capacity of your developers.

If not then accept the fact you cheated the market and replace your malfunctioning receiver or offer reimbursement to your pissed customers.

No matter how big and blue you use your typographic font.

Fact is we don’t have sound with this receiver. Several users reported they don’t have sound. In my particular case, my television can reproduce sound by itself in DVB-T channels with EAC3 audio codec. Even more, when I use another brand receiver with the same television I also obtain sound in these channels.

It’s seems that is not the television what’s need to be changed...

As i said before my Tv is a recent (one year) Philips Uhd 4K, I tested also an LG TV = no EAC3 sound, ok with MPGx
The two TV have sound on same channels with an old Dvb-sat receiver Gigablue 800Se plus and also
on Mecool Ki Pro Box ( equivalent of GTC)... How could you explain that ?

Do you have any settings for PCM output?

Dear Lining, I have tried every possible combination of settings regarding audio, HDMI, PCM, whatever...

Is that something so difficult to understand for you?

Others users and me have reported to you our problems, and we even gave you details of our television sets.

I’ll tell you one more time:

1) Ours televisions CAN decode EAC3 DVB-T channels without problems.

2) Other brand receivers connected to our televisions CAN decode EAC3 DVB—T channels without problems.

3) GTC FREESAT conected to our televisions CAN’T decode EAC3 DVB-T channels, no matter how we tweak with audio settings.

You attached a photo of a DVB-C channel with alleged EAC3 sound.

As I said before, in Europe we have problems with the DVB-T (TDT TERRESTRIAL BROADCASTING). You have reports of this problem in France and Spain.

So, we are talking about different types of broadcasting. Probably you are in China, so you can’t have the same DVB-T broadcasting as your european customers.

1) Could be a problem with DVB-T decoding software? Possibly.

2) Could be a problem with a buggy version of EAC3 codec? Possibly, so you could try another version of this codec and test it in France or Spain.

BUT PLEASE, DON’T TRY TO CLASSIFY THIS PROBLEM AS A SETTING PROBLEM. I’T DOESN’T.

And last but not least, please correct the audio/video desync problem with the DVB-S HD channels.

The only way that i see is to open dispute on Aliexpress (if your box is from ali), and make negative comments (to warn other customers).
