is V8 box right for me ?
Hi all,
I have a home which has a large satalite dish installed for TV. The previous owners had it all working perfectly but when he left he took the receiver box with him. I have the dish and all the cabling all in place ( I will try to attach photos).
Question is will the V8 box work with my dish? the location is Spain and I want the V8 as it has a Scart connection - I have an older TV which only has scart.
Many thanks
SBM

Re: is V8 box right for me ?
We need more info to help you, we need to see the back of the dish, is there a motor to move the dish, another thing. it looks like it has a KU Band LNB, you need a C-Band LNB.sbm wrote:Hi all,

thank you for your reply iq180,
I only have one photo of the back at this time:
Not sure it helps but it definitely does not have a motor. I do know it was being used up to April this year before the previous owner moved out. He is from the UK so watched english channels too. The dish is located on the top of an apartment block (our private terrace) so has clear signal receiving.

Re: is V8 box right for me ?
The dish could be set to 28e which you could receive the FTA channels with that size dish.
The other dish that it could be pointing at may be 27.5w which has english channels (but the V8 cannot decode) you will need a receiver like a Technomate TM5402 M3 and only than after it has been patch and the channels scanned in as (add channels) with the VIDEO = H264 AUDIO = MPEG4 then adding the BISS CODES.

my brother don't make a mistake to buy any freesat/gt media products please
Re: is V8 box right for me ?
Just guessing going by the images, but it looks like a fixed azimuth (set for one satellite) C-band dish. I would say you'll be needing a dedicated receiver probably fitted with a CAM and a service provider supplied card to decode encrypted services (CAM = conditional access module).
Re: is V8 box right for me ?
Google dish pointer.com so you can find out what satellite it is pointed at, then you can see what CHs are on that satellite and find out if it's what you want or if you need to point it at another satellite and see if they are powervu or what.sbm wrote:thank you for your reply iq180,

Re: is V8 box right for me ?
I think you are right is a multiple room LNB (4 outputs) wondering if OP can take a picture of LNB label if even exist or is sun burndiablo wrote:Christ, I live in southern Spain, and thatttt is one big dish . ... UK Sky I assume?

Thank you for all the replies
I will try and get a photo of the label on the dish - if it still has one. It is a multi room set up as I have cable feeds to 4 rooms.
I think at this stage I may have to get a TV/Satalite engineer to come and take a look locally.
I am working away at the moment so cannot sort this for a week or so, but I will update this forum thread.
Thanks again all
